For the conjoined Hensel twins, the extraordinary has always been ordinary — and now, the sisters are quietly building a life that challenges how the world defines love, family, and normalcy.

The world-famous conjoined twins, now in their mid-30s, were enjoying a quiet afternoon of errands in Minnesota, walking their labradoodle to the groomer. At the same time, Abby's husband, Josh Bowling, handled the groceries. It was a scene so ordinary, it might have gone unnoticed — if not for who they are.

On August 15, 2025, the sisters were also photographed in Arden Hills, gently placing a baby in a car seat into their sleek black Tesla — a moment that TMZ reported and which quickly ignited intense speculation online: Is the baby theirs?

The couple has made no public statement, but the sighting — combined with Abby's marriage to Josh in 2021 and her role as a stepmother to Josh's daughter — has many convinced that the Hensel sisters are now embracing motherhood, marriage, and family life.

"They've Always Defied Expectations" — Now They're Redefining Family

The public's fascination with Abby and Brittany began in 1996, when they made their debut on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" as charming, spirited 6-year-old twins. Years later, their TLC reality series "Abby & Brittany" captured everything from riding mopeds in Europe to earning teaching degrees side by side.

Today, the sisters both teach fifth grade in Minnesota and lead everyday lives — albeit ones with an unrelenting public gaze. They drive, travel, cook, ride bikes, and now, it seems, are navigating family life with Josh — and maybe even a baby.

A Medical Miracle From Birth — Now Writing Their Own Future

Abby and Brittany are dicephalus conjoined twins, meaning they share one body below the waist but have two heads, two spines, two hearts, and distinct personalities. They each control one side of their body — a coordination miracle that doctors once said was nearly impossible to achieve.

The twins' parents famously declined a risky separation surgery at birth, after doctors warned the odds of survival for both were slim. Their decision allowed Abby and Brittany to become one of the few conjoined twin pairs to live into adulthood, much less thrive.

Most conjoined twin cases involve girls, and survival is rare. The connection typically occurs in the chest, where vital organs are located. If each twin develops their own set of organs, survival rates improve, and separation may be an option. But when the heart is fused, doctors generally rule surgery out altogether.

But Abby and Brittany's case was different — each was born with her own set of organs, giving them a greater chance at survival.

In a documentary called "Joined For Life", their mother, Patty Hensel, shared that the twins had expressed interest in having children someday, "That is probably something that could work because those organs do work for them."

Brittany echoed at the time, "Yeah, we're going to be moms. We haven't thought about how being moms is going to work yet. But we're just 16 — we don't need to think about that right now."

Medical experts confirm that in cases like theirs, pregnancy could be possible, depending on organ function.
