'Silver Spoons' Former Star Ricky Schroder, 55, Ties the Knot in Intimate Beach Ceremony
Ricky Schroder and his new wife shared wedding photos weeks after tying the knot. Most online reactions, however, focused less on the ceremony and more on his appearance.
Ricky Schroder, known for his childhood role on the 1980s sitcom "Silver Spoons," recently remarried. The 55-year-old actor wed theater actress Julie Trammel in an intimate beachside ceremony at the Four Seasons in Cabo on July 9, 2025.

According to TMZ, the couple obtained their marriage license a week earlier at the Ouray County Courthouse in Colorado. The event was made public on August 20, when Trammel, now using the name Julie Schroder on Instagram, shared a series of photos from the wedding.

She captioned the images with a Bible verse from Matthew 19:6: "Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder," she wrote.
The photos showed Trammel in a sleeveless white lace gown with scalloped patterns and subtle beadwork. Her look was completed with a pearl necklace, soft waves in her hair, and a bouquet of white and blush-toned flowers accented with greenery.

Schroder wore a charcoal gray suit with a white shirt and dark tie, along with a peach-colored boutonnière that matched the tones in Trammel's bouquet. He paired the look with black sneakers with white soles, keeping in step with the laid-back seaside setting.
While the ceremony and setting appeared understated and personal, the online response to the wedding photos was anything but. Comments on Instagram and Facebook quickly shifted attention to Schroder's physical appearance.

On Instagram, comments included, "She makes him look way older," "Time has not been his friend," "Wow [sic] he used to be such a cutie," and "Bigotry really did a job on his face!"
Others asked, "Is she his daughter he's 87 [sic]" and "What's up with his saggy chin?" The criticism continued on Facebook, where one person remarked, "Yikes he's old for her," while a third questioned, "He's only 55??" "He doesn't age well," another fan wrote on Facebook.
There were also a few supportive messages. A Facebook commenter gushed, "Still adorable." Another shared, "Yay. So happy for him!! I love Ricky Schroder, my childhood crush!!"
Trammel previously announced their engagement in July 2024, posting a video of herself playing the piano and singing Bill Evans' "What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life." The clip ended with a close-up of a diamond ring on her left hand. She captioned it, "What are you doing the rest of your life? I'll be doing mine with Ricky. ❤️"
TMZ reported that the couple met through a mutual Army friend. In a statement shared with the outlet, they expressed gratitude for having found understanding and comfort in each other, adding that they hoped others would find the same.
This marks Schroder's second marriage. He was previously married to Andrea Schroder for nearly 24 years before she filed for divorce in 2016, citing irreconcilable differences. The former couple had four children — two sons and two daughters. At the time of the filing, only their youngest, Faith, was still a minor. Andrea sought sole legal and physical custody.

In recent years, Ricky Schroder has distanced himself from Hollywood. Speaking to Fox News Digital in early 2024, he explained, "I never fit in Hollywood. It was never sort of a desire of mine, let's say. I was put into 'The Champ' when I was 7 years old and turned 8, making 'The Champ.'"

He continued, "And so it's been an interesting path to go down – when you didn't make those choices originally. Other people made choices for you and put you on a track. But today I make my own choices. And so, that's why I sort of decided to leave Hollywood, moved back to Colorado, and I still want to tell stories. But a different forum, a different platform."

Aside from their brief remarks to TMZ, the couple has not commented further on the public response.
